Hand Stamped Monogrammed Tie Clips and Initial Bracelets

It’s wedding season! I haven’t posted in awhile because I haven’t had many new items to share- most of my efforts have gone toward completing orders from brides and grooms with weddings on the horizon for their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Since the hand stamped initial bracelets and men’s monogrammed tie bars have been so popular with the brides and grooms, I thought that I would start selling them in groups instead of only individually, to give a bit of a discount on bulk orders. Hand stamped items like the sterling silver initial bracelets and the monogrammed tie clips below make great gifts for a group of people- especially for those people to whom you want to say thanks for supporting you on your way to and on your special day- whether that special day be your wedding, your graduation, or some other accomplishment for which you want to thank people for their support.  Elegant yet versatile, both the tie clips and the bracelets will accessorize any outfit, whether it be formal or daily wear, and are a great personalized memento of whatever occasion you choose.

The Tie Clips feature the slightly larger Arial font for the initial of the surname, which in the traditional monogram style is the center letter, with a slightly smaller 2mm Typewriter Font for the initial of the first and middle names. I bend and cut the tie clips myself, so the size and length is totally up to the customer! These were made to fit the skinny ties of 6 groomsmen and a groom- I’ve requested pictures from the wedding, so hopefully I’ll be able to post them soon!

I’ve also started offering FREE gift packaging with each order- customers can choose what ribbon color they’d like or can choose twine. This one below is what one of the grooms chose for his gift packaging.

The hand stamped sterling silver initial bracelets are done with a 6 mm font called Seymour, which is a type of monogram font. I can’t wait to see (and post) the pictures from this wedding as well!

Hand Stamped Monogrammed & Initial Bracelets

The lakeshore lavaliere hand stamped brass initial/monogrammed ring, hand stamped sterling silver initial ring,  & the hand stamped nickel & stainless steel initial/monogrammed ring are the two most popular items in the lakeshore lavaliere online shop, so I decided to make them in bangle form! I wanted to make a bangle that was different from most I’ve had in the past in 2 ways. First, I wanted it to be a better fit to the wrist in terms of shape, which was a problem easily solved by purchasing an oval bracelet mandrel, one that sizes bracelets to fit the actual shape of your wrist instead of just a circle. I’m so happy I bought the oval one because from the feedback I’ve gotten, the bracelets actually fit the wrist perfectly, because they are tailored to right size and shape. Second, I wanted to make a bangle that didn’t have to slip over the hand because in my experience, those usually end up completely upside down with the monogrammed/initialed disc on the bottom of my wrist. This happens because when there is no clasp, bangles have to be bigger to fit over your hand, and then they slip around on your wrist when you wear them. This is fine if the bangle has a uniform design, but if there is one part that is supposed to be on top, it’s a real pain. So I decided to create my bangles with a clasp on the bottom to avoid this problem. I designed  a clasp that keeps the bracelet on your wrist while wearing it and that makes it easier to put the bracelet on and take it off. And, since the first bangle pictured below is mine and I’ve been wearing it pretty much daily,  I’m happy to say that the clasp does exactly what I wanted- it keeps the bangle clasped (obvi), allows for the bangle to be the right size for my wrist, and keeps the monogrammed part in place on top of my wrist where it belongs. The lakeshore lavaliere monogrammed bangle also comes in both a brass and sterling silver bangle with a simple initial.

New Bohemian Wrap Bracelets

I don’t know what it is about tropical climates that makes me want to make wrap bracelets, but last week I was in Florida, and since there is nothing to do at night for people under 100 years old, several of my nights were spent making new wrap bracelets. I decided to make a few of them longer than the 3 wraps that I previously had done, and with the others, I decided to play around with the boilerplate version of the wrap bracelet by alternating between different sizes and shapes of the beads from wrap to wrap. I know that wrap bracelets are fairly popular, and I wanted to make the lakeshore lavaliere wrap bracelets completely unique– different than the other ones out there!

50 Shades of Green 5x Wrap Bracelet

  • This bracelet alternates between a variety of different gemstones (jasper, agate, aventurine, jade, unakite), fading from sequence to sequence with different shades of greens. There is also some brown tiger’s eye gemstone and red jasper threaded in to break up the greens and add a pop of color. This is the longest wrap bracelet I have ever made, and because of its length, it doubles as an long beaded necklace that looks awesome paired with a simpler gold chain necklace.

50 Shades of Green 5x Ombre Wrap Bracelet

Obsidian & Purple Jade Triple Wrap Bracelet

  • This bracelet has 3 wraps, the 1st and 3rd of which are divided equally in half between two colors. The first wrap is divided between a sequence of faceted white jasper beads and a sequence of violet jasper beads. The third wrap is 1/2 faceted deep purple jade and 1/2 light purple jade. These two layers add a shock of color, and frame a solid layer of larger deep black obsidian cube beads. I love the purple black and white color combination- this bracelet really stands out!

IMG_0133

Elephant Blue Jade Gemstone Double Wrap Bracelet

  • Here I used a larger size bead (8mm) for both wraps than what I usually use (~6mm), and is a great simple piece for when you don’t want a wider bracelet on your wrist. Woven in amongst the sky blue jade beads, is a pattern of beautiful silver pewter pewter beads culminating in the adorable silver pewter elephant button closure, that both highlights the blue of the gemstones, and adds unique variation to break up the continuous stream of blue.
  • Style Tip: Wear a double wrap bracelet stacked with other bangles to add that extra pop of color!

Green Lemon Jade & Jasper Gemstone 4x Wrap Bracelet

  • This quadruple wrap bracelet features 4 layers of green lemon jade gemstone beads between layers of black greek leather cord, the first and 4th of which are 6mm, and the 2nd and 3rd of which are 8mm gemstone beads. The vivid combination of silver and lemon jade green beads starkly contrast with the shock of black provided by the leather cord. When worn, the 1st and 4th layers frame the 2nd and 3rd layers and place the focus on those center two wraps, which are raised due to being slightly larger in size. When looking at the bracelet on your wrist, the combination of 6mm and 8mm beads makes the bracelet seem like an autostereogram (one of those optical illusion pictures that once you stare at for a while, creates the illusion that it is 3D), even though it really is 3D to begin with. The lemon jade beads are accented by patterns of different silver pewter spacer beads, ending with a silver tree of life button closure. It is the 2nd longest wrap bracelet I have ever made!

Turquoise Tube Bead & Faceted Tiger’s Eye Gemstone 3x Wrap Bracelet

  • This triple wrap bracelet features two layers of faceted tiger’s eye gemstone beads framing an eye catching & contrasting layer framing a bold turquoise tube bead center wrap. I love how the brown faceted tiger’s eye round beads frame & accent the turquoise tube beads, it really causes the turquoise to stand out (which I love because turquoise is my favorite gemstone to work with and my favorite color.)IMG_0145

Ombre 50 Shades of Green 3x Wrap Bracelet

Soooo I couldn’t resist making an Ombre Wrap Bracelet with all of the different shades of green gemstone beads that I have in stock. I thought the different greens of the jade, aventurine, and unakite, gemstone beads would look great and give this bracelet a unique look as they faded into each other. Each set of 9 gemstone beads flows into the next set getting increasingly lighter like the ombre look. This lakeshore lavaliere ombre wrap bracelet is a great unique & bohemian accessory to add to any look.

Hand Stamped Heart Cuff Bracelet

The most popular selling items on the lakeshore lavaliere online site are the monogrammed hand stamped rings,

 l.l. rings

and I was recently approached by a friend who suggested I should make a bracelet version of these rings- so I decided to do just that! While I will soon offer a brass disc cuff bracelet, the first bracelet of this kind is a hand stamped heart cuff bracelet- which I of course made in honor of the fast approaching Valentine’s Day holiday:

Turquoise & Silver: Black Leather Wrap Bracelet & Sterling Silver Monogrammed Necklace

This week I am on vacation in sunny Florida- which, I have to say, is such an amazing change from the dreary subzero Chicago weather that I left behind. I wanted to spice up my warm weather wardrobe with some brightly colored accessories, so I set out to make myself a bracelet and a necklace. If you’ve read my blog before you probably know that I have an obsession with turquoise, so that was the gemstone & color I decided to go with. I realized that my turquoise pieces usually incorporate brown and gold, so I decided to go with a silver elephant button and black leather cord for the wrap bracelet, and a sterling silver chain and monogrammed disc for the necklace:

Tree of Life Green Cuff Bracelet

This two toned green tree of life cuff bracelet is a fun addition to my own jewelry collection. These earth tones go with almost everything in my fall wardrobe- and I’m sure with most other peoples’ fall clothing as well. The lighter, more lime green beads will add a pop of color to my darker fall wardrobe without causing this bracelet to clash.

Purple Turquoise Cube Bead Wrap Bracelet

This is going to be a reallllly quick post as I am out of town, but I felt like I was neglecting my site, and I don’t like to do that! This purple turquoise cube bead wrap bracelet was a custom order for a tube bead bracelet similar to the turquoise triple wrap tube bead bracelet- but with purple beads. (I also was given some creative license to experiment, thank God, because the hunt for the materials for this bracelet, and then making it, definitely required some creativity.) Purple tube beads are literally IMPOSSIBLE to find, and after searching every place and website I could think of, I came across these purple turquoise cube beads, and fell in love. The seller had only one 15 inch strand in stock, so there weren’t enough beads to complete the third wrap around. Since the request was for a silver button closure, I thought I would use the silver cube beads that I thankfully had to finish the third wrap around and frame the silver button closure. This bracelet was the result (and I think that despite the adjustments I had to make, it came out pretty well if I do say so myself!):

I am happy to accommodate any and all custom requests, and don’t mind hunting down different materials if I don’t already have them.

Thanks for reading and have a great Saturday!

Turquoise and Jasper Turtle Cuff Bracelet & Soldering

This turquoise and jasper turtle cuff bracelet was a custom order for a friend who liked the look of my other turtle cuff bracelet (the one with jasper and green tube beads), but wanted to switch the green tube beads to turquoise ones. I love these turquoise tube beads so I was excited to incorporate them into this project. While making this particular bracelet, I had an advantage- SOLDERING. Last time I had trouble securing the turtle to the bracelet because it only had a loop behind its head, and to make it stay without flopping around, it really needed to have a ring in its belly as well.  I’ve been wanting to learn how to solder for some time; I wanted to learn how to fuse the backs of bracelets, rings, etc., to make sure that they really last. I bought a soldering iron last week, and after much practice, I finally learned. The turtle is really a pendant made for a necklace, and with this particular bracelet, I was able to solder on a ring to create a button-like appearance on the back of the turtle. Knowing how to solder is a great way to transform a piece of metal jewelry/jewelry supply and make it stronger, or obviously, held together better. After soldering the ring to the turtle’s belly, I had the 2nd loop or anchor I needed to solidly attach the turtle to the bracelet.  I loved making this item, learning new techniques, anddddd I love how these cuff bracelets look when used to accent an outfit!

Marisa On Accessorizing Your Look With Bracelets

I wanted to branch out with the subjects of these blog posts, and when my roommate suggested doing a post on different ways to accessorize your look with jewelry, I was all over it. Before I buy any piece of jewelry, clothing, purse, accessory, etc., I like to try to visualize how it fits with the items that I already own, but sometimes this can be hard.

(if only we all had a computerized rotating closet like Cher’s in Clueless…)

(buttttt…..maybe not with the styles of the mid-90s)

Since we don’t, sometimes it’s nice to see how other people put together their outfits and how they accessorize them. For this blog’s first foray into the style advisory world, Marisa is going to talk about accessorizing with bracelets by stacking them:

Stacking by Marisa

M: I love my two watches, but I hate wearing the same accessories every day. Stacking different bracelets against my watches has been a great way to switch up my look without spending a ton of money on trendy or junky watches. By stacking a variety of bracelets around my watches, I am able to continually wear the watches as staple pieces and still give my look a fun and trendy edge.

M: Here, I used to just wear my watch and the two bangles. But I love the addition of the gold chain & black string bracelet (courtesy of me, courtesy of my dad, courtesy of Brooks Bros. ). The charms on the bracelet give it depth and the string adds texture to the combination it was lacking. I also think the chain helps to even out the structure of the red bangle. My preppy side loves the red kate spade bangle, but the Brooks Bros. chain bracelet gives it a little boho streak. (gotta love boho jewelry!)

M: Having a roommate who makes jewelry has also given me so many new options to wear with my existing jewelry and watches.

  • This is true, Marisa is my own personal model and guinea pig for all my new pieces, not to mention one of my best customers.

M: This look I like a lot for going to class. It’s interesting, but not overpowering.

M: So the bracelet pictured is actually a lakeshore lavaliere necklace! I wrapped the necklace and draped it around my watch to fit as a bracelet. Tip: If you try this with a necklace and it doesn’t fit perfectly, try playing around with the strands over your watch, it helps even it out if a little big. I love how this one piece of jewelry looks like 4 next to my watch.

  • Love the creativity here. Here’s the necklace that she used:                                                                            An alternative to using this necklace as a bracelet is:

M: Finally, sometimes I like a minimalistic look with my silver watch. This watch is so prominent on its own, I didn’t know what to wear with it at first. I’ve added my own bangle and a lakeshore lavaliere bangle. I love that these two bracelets are so delicate, but still are individually intricate. The pearls on this bracelet are unexpected, and I think that’s what this look accomplishes. It takes a classic style and makes it interesting. Perfect for a situation where you need to be polished, but still want some style.

M: That’s my take on stacking bracelets and integrating new and different types of jewelry with your existing jewelry and watches. Thanks for reading!

  • One final lakeshore lavaliere style tip: Go out and get this accessory that will beautifully accent any of these looks-and any others- today:

lakeshore lavaliere thanks you, Marisa, for sharing your fun style tips and information! We will soon continue this foray into the world of style advice, so look for new posts, tweets, pins, etc., and follow this blog to let you know when we post the new style advice column.
