Hand Stamped Monogrammed Tie Clips and Initial Bracelets

It’s wedding season! I haven’t posted in awhile because I haven’t had many new items to share- most of my efforts have gone toward completing orders from brides and grooms with weddings on the horizon for their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Since the hand stamped initial bracelets and men’s monogrammed tie bars have been so popular with the brides and grooms, I thought that I would start selling them in groups instead of only individually, to give a bit of a discount on bulk orders. Hand stamped items like the sterling silver initial bracelets and the monogrammed tie clips below make great gifts for a group of people- especially for those people to whom you want to say thanks for supporting you on your way to and on your special day- whether that special day be your wedding, your graduation, or some other accomplishment for which you want to thank people for their support.  Elegant yet versatile, both the tie clips and the bracelets will accessorize any outfit, whether it be formal or daily wear, and are a great personalized memento of whatever occasion you choose.

The Tie Clips feature the slightly larger Arial font for the initial of the surname, which in the traditional monogram style is the center letter, with a slightly smaller 2mm Typewriter Font for the initial of the first and middle names. I bend and cut the tie clips myself, so the size and length is totally up to the customer! These were made to fit the skinny ties of 6 groomsmen and a groom- I’ve requested pictures from the wedding, so hopefully I’ll be able to post them soon!

I’ve also started offering FREE gift packaging with each order- customers can choose what ribbon color they’d like or can choose twine. This one below is what one of the grooms chose for his gift packaging.

The hand stamped sterling silver initial bracelets are done with a 6 mm font called Seymour, which is a type of monogram font. I can’t wait to see (and post) the pictures from this wedding as well!

Turquoise & Silver: Black Leather Wrap Bracelet & Sterling Silver Monogrammed Necklace

This week I am on vacation in sunny Florida- which, I have to say, is such an amazing change from the dreary subzero Chicago weather that I left behind. I wanted to spice up my warm weather wardrobe with some brightly colored accessories, so I set out to make myself a bracelet and a necklace. If you’ve read my blog before you probably know that I have an obsession with turquoise, so that was the gemstone & color I decided to go with. I realized that my turquoise pieces usually incorporate brown and gold, so I decided to go with a silver elephant button and black leather cord for the wrap bracelet, and a sterling silver chain and monogrammed disc for the necklace:

Monogrammed Sterling Silver Cuff Links

These cuff links were created as a gift, but, after I finished and photographed them, they got such a great response from everyone who saw them, so I decided to make them available for purchase in my  lakeshore lavaliere online shop (etsy.com/shop/lakeshorelavaliere) and showcase them here! I made the cuff links from sterling silver discs that I hand stamped with the monogram using a combination of Seymour (a monogram font, and the largest letter in the monogram) and Typewriter/Newsprint fonts (the two smaller outer letters). After I stamped the blanks, I oxidized the letter impressions to darken their appearance and make them stand out from the rest of the disc. Then, I put the discs in my NEW machine jewelry polishing tumbler (I am really excited about it). It makes them so much shinier and smoother than anyone ever could by hand. After they were polished, the monogrammed discs were ready to be attached to the sterling silver cuff link base, which I did by soldering them on. I did this because I don’t like using a glue adhesive on sterling silver, I like using a butane blow torch, and because since cuff links are basically fasteners, they take a bit of a beating and I wanted them to be pretty much welded on so they would last FOREVER. Here are a few pictures of the finished product:

Monogrammed Steel Tie Clips

Personalized accessories are a great gift to give or receive, so I am really excited to finally be able to offer lakeshore lavaliere monogrammed tie clips! These custom ordered tie clips have a spring so that they can clamp onto the ties without sliding around. They also show the different monogram options; there are two styles that are available- the first tie clip shows the  traditional order for monograms, (first initial, larger last initial, middle initial), and the second two show the popular first, middle, last order with all the letters in the same size. In the last tie clip pictured, the customer wanted a Republican elephant symbol. So, after finding the Republican elephant charm online, I soldered it onto the tie clip to finish it off!

Custom Ordered Family Brass Family Name Necklace & Ring

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted- with finals and holiday orders picking up right at the same time, it’s been a little difficult to keep up with the blog! Anyways, I finally have a second to post about some of the recent custom orders I’ve gotten.

The first picture is of a monogrammed brass ring, and although the monogrammed brass ring has been available for some time now, this one features a different font, and different sizes of that font to create the traditional monogram style. The  first letter of the last name is in the center, and it is a larger  size than the initials of the first and middle names that bookend it. I wasn’t sure if it was going to fit, because the brass blank is very small and this font is much larger than the Aras font that I have been using, but it ended up being a perfect fit, and I love the way it turned out!

This hand stamped brass family name necklace was purchased as a Christmas gift by the customer for her mother, and has the first initials of her parents on the top brass round, and the names of the children around the edges of the bottom brass round. This was my first experiment with using the uppercase and the lowercase letters together (because they are already super hard to line up when they are the same size, and I was worried that they weren’t going to be straight or even), and once I finished, I was really glad I did. It ended up looking like it would if they were typed out, and the different cases and font sizes definitely add some interesting variation to this all brass necklace. I’m going to make one for my mom!

Hand Stamped Brass Washer Name Necklace

This raw brass hand stamped necklace was made by hand stamping the letters into a brass washer. I punched a hole through the washer and through the domed, dapped (dapping is when you use a hammer, here I used the reverse side of a ball peen hammer, to texture a piece of metal) brass blank that I place behind the washer. Adding the blank behind the washer created the contrast that I was looking for to offset the brushed matte finish of the washer. I used an oxidation process to darken the letters so that they really stand out against the gold tone of the brass. I wanted a necklace that was only gold toned so that it would go with any color combination I decide to wear. I didn’t want the necklace to be too plain, so I thought I would play around with the washers and blanks I just got in, the dapping hammer, and my alphabet metal hand stamps, and this necklace was the result:

These necklaces make a great gift for the upcoming holidays. Hand stamped jewelry leaves a deep impression and is made to last, unlike the shallow impressions of engravings. Hand stamped jewelry also has character, as no two pieces can ever be exactly the same— and I’m obsessed with making it!
