Bohemian Turquoise & Coral 4 Layer Bib Necklace

Recently I realized that I’ve been wearing a lot of black-I tend to gravitate toward a nearly all black wardrobe in the Chicago winter months, and I know I’m not alone. I have been thinking about what type of necklaces are the best accessories to spice up an all black outfit, and I landed on the style of necklace called a bib necklace. Oversized with eye catching details, they can spice up a boring outfit and add that pop of color that it needs. I decided to make this one using raw brass and 4 graduated layers of turquoise chip nuggets and free-form coral with brass accents:

I just love how the turquoise and coral look together; this necklace has exactly the amount of color to accessorize a colorless outfit and make sure it looks anything but boring!

Red Beaded Cuff Bracelet

This bracelet was part of a custom order for a bracelet that let me ‘make whatever- just with red.’ This style incorporates the idea of a wrap bracelet with the beading and leather cord, but the beaded rows are woven together so that the bracelet, like a cuff, only wraps around your wrist once. Cuff bracelets like this one have a wide and dramatic look that can be created to mirror many different styles-the lakeshore lavaliere one pictured below has a cross between bohemian and vintage look:

Wrap Bracelet & Wrap Bracelet with a Twist

Wrap bracelets are still incredibly popular, and I’ve been getting a lot of custom orders for them in many different colors. I love making them because even though the design is the same, each one becomes unique just by changing the color of the leather cord, the beads, or even the clasp.

I’ve even been wearing them everywhere- but, although I love how they look when accenting an outfit for a normal day, the leather cord look doesn’t exactly go with dressier outfits, and I need an elegant bracelet for an upcoming event. So, I decided to try using the same design as the traditional wrap bracelet, but substituted a gold chain and gold wire for the usual leather cord and silk thread. This was the result:

I made one final change to the traditional design, adding a gold flower toggle clasp for an elegant finish.

It turned out to be the perfect accent to a black cocktail dress!

If you like the red bead wrap bracelet with the gold chain & flower toggle clasp, you can click the pictures to access the listing in the lakeshore lavaliere online store! If you’d like a different color bead, or a silver chain, just specify at checkout and I can make the substitutions.

More Jewelry in Fall Reds

I am just obsessed with the colors of fall-especially all the different shades of red that show up in the trees as the seasons change. So, I have many pieces for the upcoming months that try to capture the reds of the leaves, like this necklace and pair of earrings:

Necklaces for the Fall

As we shift into the fall season, the color trends shift  as well. Colors of closet staples like the every occasion dress, jacket, shirt or pants for this season reflect a significant amount of black or grey. Accessories & accent clothing pieces in designers’ fall lines change from the pastels, brights, and neons of summer, to earth tones & colors such as red or scarlet, dark orange or rust, and darker purples. For those of us who like to keep up with the trends without breaking the bank, and who want to add a punch of color to the grey /black dress/outfit that is a staple of the fall wardrobe, necklaces that reflect the colors of fall are great accent piece, like this lakeshore lavaliere red stone necklace with a gold elephant pendant:

Recycle Your Old Jewelry!

Orange and Blue are the colors of the season, and everyone is wearing them together. I needed a pair of orange earrings to go with a navy dress that I wanted to wear for an event, but I couldn’t find any that I really wanted. So, I sifted through my pile of old jewelry, and found some orange beads and gold pendants on some necklaces that I used to wear. They seemed the perfect size to combine with other pieces to make into a pair of earrings. I combined some chain, beads, and other materials I had in my jewelry arsenal, and this great new pair of earrings (and several other similar pairs) was/were born!
