Bib Necklaces

Today’s post is allll about bib necklaces– after making the turquoise and coral bohemian bib necklace to spice up my blah outfit choices during this bleak Chicago winter (ignore that yesterday was 65 degrees outside…I have faith that later today or tomorrow it will be frigid and bleak and drop back down to the single digits) I really fell in love with creating different pieces in this style. Each bib necklace can be completely different despite the fact that they all essentially are a combination of several layers of bead strands of increasing lengths. They can be loud or even muted depending on the color, they can be bohemian but also classic (i.e. silver accents with pearls)- there are so many different options to create a necklace like the two lakeshore lavaliere bib necklaces below by starting with the same design.

Different gemstones, metals, pendants and bead combinations make each one completely unique and change the way any necklace highlights or accents an outfit, but with a type of necklace that is as large as a bib necklace, the colors and components really do shape the style of your outfit or the statement that it makes. Funky and loud or muted and classic, I think bib necklaces might be my new favorite style for 2013.

Whimsical Bohemian Rose Necklace

It’s been awhile since I made a piece that was reflective of the whimsical bohemian style that I started with when I first began making jewelry- so I thought it was time to get back to my roots. I started making this necklace with no particular design in mind- I just knew that I wanted to make something whimsical, bohemian- maybe even incorporate a woodlands theme. The green and peach beads definitely came together with the rose, the swallow, charm, the antique brass branch/leaf connectors, and the filigree pendant on which I mounted the rose. I kept the necklace short, because I envisioned it work with a v-neck or resting just on the collarbone. My lovely roommate graciously lent me her collarbone to gauge the length, and after seeing it on her, I think that I accomplished my goal of going back to my bohemian roots- and, also, I reallllyyyy loved the way it looked on her:

Turtle Cuff Bracelet

I’m not going to lie- I made this turtle cuff bracelet with green tube beads & jasper round beads for myself. I wear a ton of earth tones in all seasons, and when these beads came in, I fell in love with the way the greens of the tube beads accented the brown swirls of the jasper beads. I knew I wanted to make a piece that incorporated  both, so I decided to bring them together in this 4 layer cuff bracelet.

I’m kind of obsessed with cuff bracelets right now & I’ll definitely be making more in a variety of different colors- so look out for upcoming posts with pictures of new cuff bracelets and other pieces!

Replicas of this bracelet are available for purchase in the lakeshore lavaliere online shop- to access the listings, just click the pictures!
